Guest Speaker at Dance for Daniel - The Daniel Morcombe Foundation
Brisbane City Hall
23 March 2024
I am deeply honoured to be invited as the guest speaker at the annual Dance for Daniel fundraising event to be held at Brisbane City Hall on March 23, organised by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Inc.
I'll share my story of how, nearly 40 years after being raped, I sought and achieved justice through the criminal justice system. But I'll talk about more than my story ... it's about how we can collectively show kindness by shedding light on a difficult topic, not just to acknowledge its existence, but to understand its impact, support those affected, and find pathways to change.

My topic: Rebuilding our people’s resilience
Our maintenance workforce is confronting a myriad of macro challenges – upheaval in the energy sector, ‘FIy in Fly out’ fatigue, machines replacing jobs, and even war. Add the impact of COVID and relentless organisational change, it is no wonder our capacity to be resilient is being eroded.
How we manage uncertainty, pressure and workplace relationships depends on how we manage our mind. A resilient mindset is one that stays focused and calm, unhooks from negative mind states and rebalances quickly through setbacks. Jenny provides practical mental strategies for improving wellbeing and staying resilient – and moving from reacting to responding when under pressure.
